The Felician Sisters have lived in the historic1876 Leadlay
House on Augusta Avenue since the late 1930’s and have
been providing support to the local community since that time.
They built a daycare behind the convent for children of
new immigrants and operated it until 1990, after which time
the programs and services expanded to become the
St. Felix Centre.

The House is designated a heritage building under the
Ontario Heritage Act. The interior is largely in its original state
with the elaborate plaster work part of the heritage designation.

Our work is to bring the House, up to current building code
standards by inserting a fire exit stairwell in the rear portion,
increasing the fire and acoustic separation between the
bedrooms, making the first floor barrier-free and renovating
the washrooms. To accomplish this, we are working closely
with Heritage Preservation Services, the City of Toronto
building department and the St Felix Centre
